Ferndale Labour Party News from your Ferndale Labour Councillors and Activists
We are supporting the local NHS Trusts in their journey to become London Living Wage Employers, a move which could lift thousands of residents out of poverty. The four trusts – King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’s, St George’s and South London and the Maudsley – are easily the area’s biggest employers with over 40,000 workers between them.
About a third of Lambeth’s children are growing up in poverty, and in-work poverty has become an increasing problem with one in five Lambeth residents earning less than the London Living Wage rate. Lambeth Labour hosted a workshop for the NHS Trusts with the Living Wage Foundation to support the trusts in gaining Living Wage accreditation, which will help tackle poverty in the borough.
